Oklahoma Adds Constitutional Carry

Oklahoma just joined the ranks of 14 other states across the Union who abolished the concealed carry permit in favor of the Second Amendment. “The Second Amendment is my concealed carry permit” will now be an accurate statement in the Sooner State as of November 1st, 2019.

Newly elected Governor Stitt had this to say as reported by Tulsa World:

As I traveled all over the state to all 77 counties, I heard from Oklahomans all over that they wanted us to protect their right to bear arms. I think the best defense for a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

As such, it was the first legislation signed into law by this governor, which was vetoed by the previous one.

We couldn’t agree more with Governor Stitt’s sentiments, and we aren’t the only ones as there was overwhelming support of this “Constitutional Carry” bill. It passed 40 (yes) to 6 (no).

The no votes are seemingly concerned for violence against women and children, as Carri Hicks D-Oklahoma City, has said here:

We are a top 10 state in the worst quality of life for women and children, I think this particular law is further opening the gate to some devastation on those two particular groups.

There will be no requirements for training to carry a gun but you must still go through a background check to buy any guns from your local FFL.

It’s also notable that places where guns cannot currently be brought, such as college campuses, will not be changing. Constitutional Carry will not change those restrictions, but lifts the burden of acquiring a permit to exercise what was considered by our founding fathers as a God given right.

Hello, when are these pendents going to accept the fact that the Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the land. That is what gives us law loving , abiding citizen the right to carry arms AND defend ones self. If these pendents do not like the law, then I say move to a nation where gun rights do not exist. God bless America, God bless our troops.

Very good Governor Stitt. I think that you have the right idea. If more good people had a concealed carry on them and the bad guy’s new we may be carrying. It would make them think twice.
    WELL Done MR. STITT.

I am an Okie in Texas and I am glad to see another state join the ranks of those who rightfully believe in the Second Amendment and honor it as it was intended. Yea for Oklahoma!

I live in Florida where we are under a sudden avalanche of gun control legislation in both of our houses in Tallahassee, Constitutional Carry NOT being one of them. Sadly, the Speaker of the House in Florida is a sick liberal who will not allow any PRO Gun, self protection or reasonable legislative attempts to roll back the tide of idiocy that came with the school shooting in Miami last fall to reach the floor, or even the committees. It is pure TYRANNY in the Florida House of Representatives! I am saying this because I want to congratulate your fine state and the 40 RIGHT-THINKING SOLONS and the new GOVERNOR for doing the right thing!

My son has recently moved to Oklahoma from Florida and is gushing over the outstanding atmosphere surrounding the Second Amendment there. I am old, too old to move, too anchored in my community to leave while the fight is so thick here, but I am relieved to know you all have this issue WELL under control!

God bless you all and God save the United States of America. I pray that all your neighboring states will join Oklahoma in the pursuit of the Liberties guaranteed by the Constitution which we all love so deeply.
